As empty nesters, the departure of out young adult children from the home can bring about a whirlwind of emotions. As I write this, my children have just returned to University for their Junior Year. It’s normal to feel a sense of loss and emptiness, but it’s important to remember that this is also a time for new beginnings and opportunities. In the midst of change, it’s crucial to turn to your faith and trust in God’s plan for you.
The scripture from Jeremiah 29:11 serves as a comforting reminder during this transition period. “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Take solace in the fact that God has a purpose for you, even in this new season of life.
Embracing change means letting go of the past and looking towards the future with hope and optimism. Take this time to rediscover yourself, explore new interests, and pursue passions that may have been set aside while raising your children. Use this opportunity to focus on self-care and personal growth, knowing that you are deserving of joy and fulfillment.
Finding purpose in this new chapter of your life may involve volunteering, pursuing a new hobby, or even starting a new career. Seek out opportunities to connect with others who are going through similar experiences, as shared support can provide comfort and encouragement along the way.
Remember, this is a time of transition and growth, both for you and your young adult children. By embracing change with an open heart and a positive mindset, you can navigate this new season of life with grace and resilience. Trust in God’s plan for you, and know that He is guiding you towards a future filled with hope and promise.
